Super Smash
Bros. Dreams
Enter the fray of projects!
Summary
Super Smash Bros Dreams is a collection of projects that are centered around the Super Smash Bros franchise featuring music mixing, commentary, interface design, mod showcasing, and more! The goal of this collection was to highlight what makes Super Smash Bros as amazing as it is, whether it be the stellar soundtrack, the robust modding scene, or the people who have poured hours into the games in order to give us some of the most memorable moments in fighting game history.

With Super Smash Bros, the Melee has never be greater! All of the components of this project can be viewed through the Super Smash Bros Dreams YouTube Playlist where Arcmaevotix is home to the original versions and Nehrpsyznet is home to the remade versions.

Process
Creating the various components of Super Smash Bros Dreams was a long and arduous process due to the fact that this project contained some of the biggest productions that I have ever made. The most notable two being “Super Smash Bros Realms” and “Melee Forever” which both took weeks on their to assemble. The process of making the different pieces of the collection started with “Hyper Melee”, a music mix dedicated to the breakbeat remixes of various Super Smash Bros tunes with some flavor and style thrown in by me.

It included all of the Super Smash Bros remixes that I had made in the past, but with far better mixing and direction in addition to remastering all of the old designs that I had made for those remixes and associated media. This set the scene for me then re-creating “Super Smash Bros Realms”, which was a UI / UX concept for a hypothetical Super Smash Bros collection game.

With both of those projects established, I took on the task of compiling my history with the Super Smash Bros franchise and then showcasing one of the newest versions of a mod that I had showcased several years ago. Research and development for the “Melee Forever” video included a lot of discussions with friends and family about growing up, digging for data bout the released titles, and talking with other Smash Bros fans about how they perceived the franchise over the years.

Reflection
Super Smash Bros Dreams was one of the most important projects in allowing me to showcase what knowledge I had gained from other projects such as Floral Galaxy, Sonic DNB, and Sonic Zones: Retro Dream whether it be in regards to interface design, motion graphics, videography, or another skill.

“Melee Forever” is the one of the longest video essays that I have ever developed with a clear display of second to second editing where visuals are really framing what is being said audibly. For years I had told myself that I would eventually make a proper video essay and Super Smash Bros Dreams was the project within which it got completed!
