Memes Mayhem
Be careful since they might be among us on this very ship...
Summary
Memes Mayhem is a compilation of puppet sketches, streaming moments, and meme edits that have been made by me over the past decade. The compilation is edited in the styles of Gen Y and Gen Z internet humor that was popularized in the 2010s. It exists purely as a piece of sequenced chaos where little to no overarching context is provided in order to mimic the absurdist state that internet humor arrived at in the late 2010s and early 2020s. From lamenting poor quality teammates in a game of Among Us to questioning the mental faculties of strangers on the internet, it’s all present here in this roller coaster ride through a whole lot of crazy creations. There is only one component in this project which can be viewed here since it is a self contained Nehrpsyznet exclusive with Arcmaevotix having no sibling items to it. This is because any of the related creations that were previously hosted on Arcmaevotix (which was formerly the old AmzroSevca channel) were added directly to this production.

Process
The development of “What in the Actual Web”, the sole component of the Memes Mayhem project, was an entirely organic process. Due to the fact that all of the contents shown within the montage were developed over the course of a decade, there was no research and development process of the traditional nature involved or any sort of step by step plan drafted up for the opening phase of production of this piece. It began to come together after I filtered out all of the comedic creations from my studio’s content library and sorted unreleased videos of the same nature from my archives. With a curated collection of stream clips, media segments that I had clipped into memes, oddball comedy projects that I had made in the past, and a host of other wacky material, I got started with assembling the compilation. The entire flow of the project evolved as it went along and ideas arose as items naturally found their place one by one. Within this stage of development some research did happen as I had to re-familiarize myself with the present trends of internet humor and what the presentation style is centered around. After threading together various forms of content and revising the way in which I combined such nonsensical material, I ended up with a pretty bizarre piece of art that roughly captures what it was like to experience the flavors of internet humor from the mid 2010s to the mid 2020s.

Reflection
Memes Mayhem was an exercise in reinforcement as I was able to use a lot of video editing tools and techniques that I have used before for specific purposes, but never had the reason to get creatively wild with. Panning, rotations, zooms, sweeps, motion tracking, blended distortions, and plenty of other features were used to create a truly zany ride through the biggest collection of randomized content that I had on hand. What in the Actual Web, the only item under the Memes Mayhem project, was developed largely because I had a wide variety of comedic material that was not professional design work in any way but took varying amounts of effort to create. I wanted to craft a piece of art that gave those works a home with some meaning and a goal. Thus I made What in the Actual Web as a time capsule of what internet humor looked like in the decades following my childhood.
