Game Graphics
Adding more pixels to your game covers one at a time!
Summary
Game Graphics is a collection reel of designs revolving around promotional and package design for video games. These designs were created as graphic design demonstrations and mockup exercises to further study grid work and advertisement aesthetics. The collection features an asset pack for Kirby Super Star, a mockup of an Advance Wars remake (that was made prior to Re-Boot Camp), an entire gallery of custom Game Boy Advance box art covers, and plenty of other visual explorations that have all been compiled into a showcase video. All of the components of this project can be viewed through the Game Graphics YouTube Playlist where Arcmaevotix is home to the original versions and Nehrpsyznet is home to the remade versions.

Process
The creation of this project started with individual graphic design explorations that were made either for use as alternative cover art replacements or presenting what-if concepts as mockups. The process of designing these artifacts would involve doing some research into the aesthetics or visuals that I would be aiming to replicate or incorporate and then curating assets would happen shortly thereafter. Once I had built out an asset library for the design, I would compose it in Photoshop, GIMP, or other pieces of design software before sending it to a 3D modeling space where I could create mockups of the packaging or real world application (this varied with each design). Some designs would require further steps if they were smaller pieces of a bigger whole such as with the Game Boy Advance box art collection that saw each of the individual covers be added to a large mural.

Reflection
Game Graphics is one of the largest standalone graphic design collections within the Twin Exhibitions. Being able to evolve the project further to its present form was an eye opening experience as it helped me to better understand the elements of design as I made changes to older works that now could benefit from my progression of knowledge in how to refine them. This sometimes saw completely new designs being drafted up in the place of old ones or various remastering techniques being implemented to clean up the quality of previous versions. This project was also the first time that I have ever put together a video presentation of a mockup being simulated in 3D fashion since most prior projects were rendered in real life as demo items via printing work.
